Porini Lion Camp
If one wants to escape the tourist mini-bus crowds that frequent the Masaai Mara, Porini Lion Camp is a great option. It offers a unique opportunity to take guided walks with Maasai Warriors and experience day and night game drives within the Olare Motorogi Conservancy – a pristine and exclusive 33,000-acre wilderness set aside for wildlife conservation and low-impact tourism.
Porini Lion Camp is located in unique and stunning setting on the banks of the seasonal Ntiakatiak River within the Olare Motorogi Conservancy. This large area borders the Masai Mara National Reserve and is home to an abundance of animals including the Mara’s renowned Big Cats. There is unsurpassed game-viewing within the conservancy due to its unspoiled natural state and the Porini Lion Camp – with just ten tents – ensures guests have a genuine “away from it all” experience deep in the African bush.
The high-quality, spacious tents are tastefully furnished and each has solar-powered lighting, ensuite facilities (with hot shower and flush toilet) and a private verandah.
Shared game drives are in specially-designed off-road safari vehicles with expert / qualified safari guides to ensure the best possible game-viewing as well as the safety of everyone involved including the animals. Guests particularly enjoy the drives within the Conservancy where they experience the wilderness without being surrounded by other tourist vehicles.
