Skeleton Coast
Situated on Namibia’s remote western coastline, the Skeleton Coast is named after many ships that sank here over the past centuries. The rusted remains of wrecked ships are often surrounded by swirling mists, and make moody and dramatic visuals. Bleached whale and seal bones also are visible back from the days of the whaling industry.
While large seal colonies and shipwrecks line the coastline, huge dune fields pan out as far as the eye can see. The Skeleton Coast National Park is one of the most beautiful and dramatic parts of the country. It is widely regarded as the most picturesque park in Africa. For the safari enthusiasts, the park houses a great variety of species with its borders, from the big cats, desert adapted elephants, black rhino and various species.
