Elephant Pepper Camp ♥

Elephant Pepper is a small, tented camp located in the protected Mara North Conservancy. It is conveniently located in the Mara North Conservancy with its’ private setting away from the crowded Mara National Reserve’s mini-buses. But Elephant Pepper vehicles can venture into the National Reserve itself to witness the river crossings during the peak of the great migration season (around July to October).

Elephant Pepper Camp is a permanent tented camp and is simple in design but has a real bush feel. Its ten tents include two honeymoon tents, which can also serve as family tents. They have woven floor coverings and solar power but is very well lit. Inside they’re well equipped, with a small desk, luggage rack and bedside tables where one will find insect repellent, and a radio and whistle for attracting attention.

At the back of each tent is an en-suite bathroom separated by a canvas flap. Here you’ll find a flush loo, hot shower, and a basin with jugs of washing water. Every morning, staff will place hot water by a small flap at the back of the bathroom. At the front, there is a hammock which is a popular relaxation spot.

The honeymoon tents are similar in style, but positioned slightly further away, and have small garden areas with firepits. They are slightly larger, with king-size beds, and can take up to two extra beds.

Generally, the day’s activities will revolve around game viewing in either the conservancy or the national reserve. Night drives are technically possible, although not encouraged. Instead, after an afternoon game drive and a relaxed sundowner they’ll drive slowly back to camp with the spotlights so you can look out for some of the conservancy’s nocturnal creatures. Lion are particularly interesting to try and find as dusk turns to night.

With its’ proximity to the busy open plains, guests will hear animals all night. Hyenas, lions and cape buffalo are always nearby.
